Dani is the phenomenal writer of Positively Present. (Even the motto rocks! “Living Happily Ever Now”) She’s bringing the awesome and changing her life in the process!
The change from from an Eeyore to being positively present has not been an easy or quick one. I’ve known for years (ever since I was a little kid) that I was looking a life through a negative lens. I used to just accept that and assume that was who I was and it wasn’t going to change.
Last year a few things happened to me that I really related to my negativity (and my drinking) and I realized: things had to change. I don’t think it was one thing in particular. It was a lot of things that had been building up for decades and I just got to the point where I realized that no one was going to change my life for me.
It was up to me to make a change.
But I couldn’t do it alone. Over the past six months, with the help of therapy (definitely the most important aspect in changing my attitude and my life), some great books, my blog, and support from family and friends, I’ve been making moves, trying to change my overcast view of life into a sunny one.
So far, it’s really been great. I’ve noticed that people act differently towards me. I’ve noticed that, while I’m certainly upset/sad/angry at times, I generally feel happier and more content with my life.
I know this transformation is a work-in-progress and, to be honest, I don’t know if I’ll ever be free of that little nagging Eeyore sitting on my shoulder and reminding me how miserable life is, but I’ve come a LONG way in such a short time and I have a lot of hope for the future.
I love for readers to embark on their own personal development journey, and a journey geared toward living a positive life in the present moment. The other day someone asked me what I’m trying to do with my blog and, after thinking for a moment, I said, “Well, I’m trying to live in the moment…and love the moment I’m living in.” For some this might come easy, but for me, and for a lot of other people, this is a HUGE challenge.
Every day I have to constantly remind myself to be happy, to think positive thoughts, to see the good in things. I want those who find this way of life (and, really, that’s what is is) difficult or silly to know that they too can be this happy and it really is wonderful.
I used to snub my nose at happiness, thinking it was boring and something only uncreative, unintelligent people took part in. I thought that if you really thought about life, if you were smart enough to reflect on the world, you couldn’t help but be unhappy.
Boy, was I wrong. Life really is all about attitude.
This is (as far as we know) the only life you have and you have only this moment. So why waste it being unhappy? Cliche as it is, life is too short to waste being miserable. So, readers, take control of your life and do whatever you need to do to find the happiness in your life. There are so many wonderful websites out there (like TTi) that really make me happy. You can see a list of them on the right-hand side of my website under the heading “Wonderful Websites.” So many of them have really inspired me and I hope that you will take the time to look for things in life that inspire them as well.
Live in the moment. Love the moment you’re in.

I would just like to reaffirm that you, my dear, are awesome!
Read your most recent post and I also commented and it’s good stuff. To paraphrase the words of the soon-to-beawesomely-illustrious Mrs. Hayden Tompkins: “Keep rockin’ the awesome.”
God Bless,

Hi Dani,
Great to see you over here! And thanks for sharing part of the journey you’ve been on to get where you are at today. I, too, had a time in my life where I didn’t necessarily look at the world through a positive lens. And now that I do, it is so much better, and so many great things have happened. Attitude really is so important!
Hayden – Thanks much for hosting Dani over here, this is my first visit to your site, and I’m looking forward to many more visits…
