Self-Defense for the ladies has been a hot topic of late.  It started with an article from The Art of Manliness where the author opined that,

Although the gender lines in this modern age have become increasingly blurred, there is one male/female disparity that even the most ardent feminist cannot deny: men are physically stronger than women.

…which inspired this article on self-defense for women, “Women Need Protecting”.  SanityFound wrote two pieces in response.

She first discussed her less-than-safe existence in South Africa and how it affected her perception of what is really important.  She then posted a pretty comprehensive article on self-defense and also referred to another post on safety tips for children.

Among the more fascinating pieces of information, SanityFound advises wearing a whistle (for both women and children), gives tips on dealing with someone holding a gun, as well as a priceless piece of advice for escaping from a trunk.

I don’t know if this 85 year-old woman read any of these stories, but one thing is clear – the lady’s got moxie. In Point Marion, Pennsylvania, Leda Smith shows a burglar who’s boss.  She grabbed her .22 and made him call the cops.

Like I said, moxie. Leda, may I suggest that you check out The Art of Manliness tips on how to correctly clean a gun?

You can read the rest of the story here.  Remember:  Vigilance is the first and easiest line of self-defense.
