my jaw dropped when i saw the footage of him as a 1 and 2 year old. Unbelievable. It's comforting to know that someone as talented as he is had a family as supportive as they are.

You are so right. With a different set of parents his life would be completely different.

Yes three (marching) band geeks. First was an alto sax then the next two were percussionists. They were just superb. My youngest bio-daughter so much so that their competition music was written around her performance. The Band Director was quite upset with me when I moved her into a private school half way through her junior year. She started getting in with the wrong crowd so.... I yanked her out. Not a very popular thing at the time but at the end of the school year she thanked me. Wisdom and all that you know. lol Now she plays the congas/bongos in our church's praise/worship band. She is really quite good

All three of my daughters turned down music scholarships.

This is so amazing! Having had three daughters who ALL played in their high school bands I know what a committment it takes for these "band geeks" to excell. Kudos to this daddy! Anybody can be a father. This daddy takes to the level we should strive for.

Awesome. More of us need to pay attention to the "music of opportunity." Seeing his father in action tells me the answer to the parents' original question about why this child was sent to them. It's almost as if they were hand-picked for this special spirit in their homes because of the care, support, encouragement, and work that they provide.

Patrick said "God gave him an amazing musical gift." He should have added that he was given the most amazing, giving Dad.
I can't imagine working a full time job and going to school with his son, above and beyond. And he says that he is just humbled by his son.
I'm humbled by both of them.

You're right, his dad was phenomenal. The majority of his success is because of the lengths his father is willing to go. Just extraordinary.
