13. CONFIDENCE.

The “Rules for Success” series has tiptoed around the concept of confidence, and 8 of the last 12 rules have addressed confidence either through body language or attitude.
-
Don’t be afraid of the head honcho.
-
Know what you contribute.
-
Be a diva.
-
Make eye contact.
-
Give good hand.
-
Never denigrate yourself.
-
Just say no.
-
Dress the part.
All the previous rules, however, are nothing and will accomplish nothing, if you do not have confidence in yourself.
Build self-confidence through focus on your success.
Your battles could be small (got to work on time today!), they can be silly (all Christmas lights finally removed!), or they can be big (finished thesis!).
Whatever it is, make a list, keep a journal, put it in your planner so when you feel a fiasco you have proof to the contrary!
Man in the Mirror.
At GorgeousforGod, Lisa discusses how the world reflects your focus and your internal reality. This too is true for success.
Behold The Donald. “By 1991 increasing debt brought Trump to business bankruptcy and the brink of personal bankruptcy.” He never looks at himself as anything other than a success.
It’s all about changing your mindset. If you view every failure personally, that those failures mean that you are a failure, then you -no duh – will feel like a failure.
If, however, you view every failure as a challenge, a part of the learning process, or a “correction”, then you will feel like a success.
Take the term ‘failure’ out of your picture.
“I never failed once. It just happened to be a 2000 step process.” – Thomas Edison

My favorite is “Be a Diva.” I’m working on it.

Oh, boy! Nice pic with the cat marching in front of a bunch of dogs! I liked it. I agree confidence is not to be neglected. What if I am a diva not having any confidence in my actions (words, acts, etc.)? I will be no diva at all.
Confidence is a pathway to success via failure. Once failed, it will bring you back “from ashes”. And this is what counts!
