The World is Your Oyster Mirror

Don’t you find it frustrating when you see someone coasting through life like it’s one big party?
Dang chipper people. Don’t they know that life is serious? Don’t they know that life is hard?
Well I hope you don’t find it frustrating, and not everyone is like that, thank god. There are, however, plenty of ‘hard working’ people who have just had one setback after another.
No matter how much work they put in or what choices they make, nothing seems to work out. If you are this person it would drive you crazy to see how easy it seems for someone else to make a success of their life.
‘If only’ seems to be key. If only you got a better job. If only your spouse appreciated you more. If only you had less debt. If only you had kids. If only you didn’t have kids. If only you had a significant other.
If only ___, then I would be happy.
Nothing, absolutely nothing in this world can make you happy. Happiness is a choice. Granted happiness is an easier choice to make when you have less obstacles in your life, but the fact remains that it is a choice.
The world is your mirror.
If you think that life is good and the world is a place of beauty; if you think life is complicated, unfair, unjust, that the world is elitist – then you are good and a person of beauty; you are afraid and judgmental, and unfair – either with others or yourself.
Whatever you put out is what you get back. Why? People want to be helpful and nice to someone who is full of love. People respond in kind to someone who is angry. We often meet others on their own level.
So if you aren’t happy, people will not be inclined to share their joy with you. Why would they? They share something positive in their life and your response may be “let’s see how long that lasts” or maybe, “well Susie Sunshine is obviously an idiot”.
And you would rather be a smart, miserable person than a happy idiot.
